I used this as a guide as part of a project. I made a greatly simplified version, without as many colors or details. Very good Instructable!

I used this as a guide as part of a project. I used leather pieces glued together instead of duct tape, with plastic to make the spikes stick out. I also used a bag to weigh down the armor at the other end. Great job!

The first fan (the one with the rim) is easier to balance but a bit harder to make, so I would suggest trying the first one.

It would work best with hydroponics (like flowers in a vase filled with water).I'm not sure how it would work for plants in soil. Maybe if you separate out a section of the pot with for water, or had a two-layer flower pot, it would work. The plant would pull the water through when needed and the auto-waterer would refill the water.

Thank you! I really like this design as well. :)
I just used a regular roll of brown craft paper. It's pretty thin. I typically use it for table protection when working on other crafts, but it works well for this project, as it is very easy to fold, sturdy, and thin enough even with multiple layers.
