Nice job! I didn't think of how easy and cheap it could be to make a pair of personalized matkot. By the way, I didn't know matkot are known to people outside of Israel! That's awesome :) It's a really fun game!

This is amazing! I love it! I've never seen this type of use for a diffraction grating before! Thanks for sharing:)The diffraction sheets are not that cheap, how many times do you think they can be reused? Does it seem durable? Thanks! :)

You should try 'lightning' infill for objects like this (if you haven't already)! It saves a ton of material when you have no need for strength.Nice project! Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks for the question :)I think you're referring to the code I wrote in python. It's not too complicated but you'd need a bit of coding knowledge to use it (it has no user-interface). Does that help? Not sure if I answered your question! Thanks a lot for the kind feedback by the way:)

That sounds like an interesting phenomenon! Since you're saying that it does not happen with plain water, my next guess would be that this happens due to the difference in surface tension of the two liquids. Does that make sense? (I would be happy to say more if you want). Also, we have glycerol at the lab, so I'll give it a shot and get back to you with my findings :)And thanks for the very kind feedback!
Thanks for the comment :) I appreciate you taking the time to read and question my work. So, here are my thoughts - In every experiment we must be able to discern what's important - what's playing a major role in our experiment - and what is not. For example, I was doing an experiment indoors, and I never mentioned what was the weather outside and if there was a Chinese holiday happening in parallel, because those would have negligible effect on the experiment. Another example is that solids diffuse too, but it has a negligible effect on almost anything we do.In the case of a typical diffusion demo, the major player is convection rather than diffusion as suggested. They're both happening in parallel, and diffusion does have a role in distributing the dye in directions that are different f…

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback! I 100% agree with you, people take things for granted too often! Your example about statistics is spot on.There are so many misconceptions in science, and they can be really misleading. In the case I showed, I believe that the misconception about diffusion originated from teachers who tried to simplify things for the students. In this case, the simplification lost touch with reality. You know what they say... You should simplify things as much as possible, but not more than that.I'm sure some people will choose to keep spreading the misinformation, because it's easier! But I just hope that some will not :) Thanks again for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
I agree! agar gel are perfect for diffusion experiments. I commented about that to one of the previous replies. I didn't want to give people the impression that the difference comes from the fact that my experiment would be in gel instead of a water (liquid). Thanks for the comment :)
View Instructable »Thanks a lot! It's was a fun experiment, and I was really surprised with how well the data analysis went. I wasn't sure the smartphone camera would do, but I analyzed the green channel of the image and it worked perfectly fine (even though it's just 8bit per channel). You can see that my intensity-profiles were a bit messy, but that didn't make much of a difference. If you need help with modifying the python code, let me know:)

Mmm.. that sounds like a great idea! Haha I didn't think about it:) it could be so much easier! You'd have to be very accurate with the quantities so the hexagons don't merge, but it might be possible! Thanks for the comment!

- NirL commented on NirL's instructable Resistors Class - Draw Resistors Using a Pencil (Suggested Experiments Included)View Instructable »
Nice! An interesting thing would be to combine what you did and what I did. In step 6 I tried to estimate the thickness of a pencil-drawn line, but I didn't have any information about the resistivity of the lead. An experiment like yours can be used to find the resistivity of the pencil and then one could draw a line on a piece of paper and measure it's thickness! It should be on the scale of nano-meters I think :) Thanks for the comment!

You're welcome! And thanks for the kind comment!By the way, as I mentioned in the text/video, fans are more common in old PC's. We did find some, but not in all of the printers. Good luck with your projects!
That's good to know, thanks! They're not as common these days, so we come across one of those yet.
Thanks for the comment Andrew :) I agree that there is a lot more to salvage! We tried to focus on things that are easy to salvage and are commonly used by DIY makers, but stuff like you mentioned are great for those who know how to operate them! Thanks a lot for the input!

I agree! The polished steel rods are some of my favorite parts too. I added a couple of projects I made with reused parts I got from old printers, and they all have steel rods in them.By the way, if you have any pictures of stuff you made I'd love to see them! engines are beautiful and I've never had a chance to make one before.

Thanks for the great question! You start with raw eggs with the shell on - I wash the eggs before putting them in the oven. The flavor gradually diffuses into them, but it takes a while! Some of the flavor comes from the outside and some comes from the long overnight cooking. Maybe peeling the shells would make things quicker but that's not how they're traditionally made and I have never tried it! If you do, let me know!I'll add a little more details to the instructable about it, thanks!
Thanks for the kind words! Can't wait to hear what they say :)If you your fried eggplants are tasty you can't go wrong! That's the tricky part. By the way, I bet you can use your pickled red beet eggs here.
