Ha, thanks for the catch! Definitely had some tunnel vision while writing this much documentation, yet fortunately it’s not a school project, so no spelling grade ;). As for the silicone, maybe some additional clarification would be nice following my 24 hour claim - that set time allowed me to ensure proper seal with a water test, yet no fish were introduced into the system for another month or so after that (as this system integration took me forever).

While I was doing my initial research into this project, I stumbled across a number of systems with a swirl filter, yet I didn't prioritize its addition due to the small scale of the project. I only planed to house a couple goldfish, and thus focused my efforts to the projects electronic systems. Now that I've finished up, it might be a great addition to work on.

Theoretically the tank holds nearly 8.5 US gallons, while the grow box holds roughly a 1/2 gal - yet, i’ve never filled the tank beyond 3/4 capacity, as it really becomes an unnecessary potential for conflict with the electronic system housed below the grow box. As for the tank and grow box, my research primarily fell into optimizing area for bacterial growth in the grow box, and not a direct relation between the tank and grow box themselves. Thus, the grow box is scaled to parallel the max width of the tank, and not any specific ratio. If your looking into this somemore, It might be worth while reading up on hydroponic grow mediums, as their characteristics may play a role in the desired ratio.

Hey @ocelotsden! This concern is most certainly warranted, and was a pretty big stressed of mine while doing the final water testing. Although wood is definitely not the best material to use here, my true goal for this project was to showcase the capabilities of different digital fabrication tools in a mixed media project. This project paralleled some supply chain access issues, and wood offered a somewhat cost effective and accessible option for this larger scale mill. If I ever get around to creating an Assistive Aquaponics Fish Tank v2, i’ll hold out for some better suiting material :)

Ooo, i love this idea. Not sure if this would be best achieved as another cap style in this generator, but instead as an entirely separate generator of its own. Witch such a setup, I could double input parameters - allowing for transfer between different sized/shaped containers. If i get around to this, maybe I’ll make another instructables (and ping this thread once posted). Thanks for the great idea, and glad you like the generator!
